Vision
The Department of Campus Activities facilitates transformational student experiences by creating a vibrant student life community where all students feel valued, connected, and successful.
Mission
We are committed to the holistic development and success of all students, the cultivation of inclusive spaces and communities, and the fostering of meaningful relationships and lifelong learning.
Values
Through our programs, advising, and involvement opportunities, we commit ourselves to the following actions:
Educate – We are leadership educators. We challenge students to think critically about their personal values and leadership opportunities while promoting educational risk-taking and critical reflection.
- Engage – We are community builders. We create environments where people can create authentic and meaningful relationships with one another. We encourage respectful discourse to deepen personal understanding and appreciation of differences while cultivating a community of mutual responsibility.
- Empower – We are resourceful advisors. We support students in owning their experiences and taking responsibility for their actions. We help students identify their personal and organizational vision and goals and share resources and tools to be successful and thrive.
- Excite – We are innovators. We foster collaboration, creativity, and innovation, so students can become active campus citizens. We inspire students to become change agents by connecting knowledge to action and by leaving a positive legacy at Appalachian.
Learning Outcomes
The Division of Student Affairs has four learning goals and corresponding outcomes that students can develop from engaging in programs and services across our department.
Strategic Plan
In 2022, Campus Activities engaged in a strategic planning process that supports the Division of Student Affairs strategic priorities and Appalachian State University's strategic directions. You can find a copy of that strategic plan here.
Are you a campus event promoter or entertainer? If so, please email Appalachian Popular Programming Society (APPS) at apps@appstate.edu directly, and our student leaders will be in touch.
