Student Organization Tailgating
The Office of Campus Activities reserves the Duck Pond Field for all home football games with the exception of Homecoming for the purpose of coordinating tailgating. All clubs and organizations wanting to tailgate must request permission from Campus Activities to be entered in a first come first served "lottery" to receive a spot (requests for tailgating are due by noon on Tuesdays prior to the game via online AppSync form submission). The Athletics Department provides the appropriate parking authorizations to Campus Activities before each home game and these permits will only be distributed to those organizations that have previously requested and ultimately received permission for tailgating.
Approved groups may begin actual tailgating beginning no earlier than three hours before game time (allowing for three hours of tailgate time). There is one designated drop off area for Duck Pond, just across from the Justice Hall/Gardner Hall parking area. Permit holders are not allowed any further up Stadium Drive, into the Stadium parking area, or on the Duck Pond grass. Permits to access Stadium Drive for set-up expire two hours prior to game time; so for a 3:30 game, you must have set up your site by 1:30 or you will forfeit your tailgate site.
Tailgating must conclude 30 minutes before game time. This includes but is not limited to music being turned off, specific site and surrounding area cleaned up, supplies and materials packed up, participants asked to leave and tents dismantled. Trash bags will be provided, and each tent is responsible for carrying filled trash bags to the dumpsters by Trivette and/or Stadium Lot. Vehicles will be allowed back up to Duck Pond at kickoff to pick up supplies. Each organization needs to clearly mark their tent or location with their name.
Each group is be required to attend an informational meeting at the beginning of the fall semester for the purposes of discussing tailgating. Each group will designate a responsible member with the appropriate amount of authority within the organization to serve as the contact/monitor/marshal for the organization at their tailgate. This individual must be designated and their name submitted to the Office of Campus Activities before parking permits will be distributed and the permission granted for tailgating for the upcoming game. This individual will serve as a contact person for the University Police and the Office of Campus Activities and will be expected to assist in ensuring that members and guests adhere to University policy. The names of the individual group monitors will be provided to University Police. Group violations of University policy will be subject to review and disciplinary action by the University. Individuals who violate University Policies are subject to all appropriate sanctioning through the Student Code of Conduct or the Student Organizational Code of Conduct.
To request a tailgate spot on Duck Pond Field, you must complete the registration form (located in AppSync) by noon on the Tuesday prior to the game.
If you have any questions or need assistance with your submission, please contact Adriane Brooks, Student Services Coordinator, at email@example.com or in the Office of Campus Activities (244 PSU) at (828) 262-6252.
